All licensed operators welcome on the 146.61- repeater. Newton, KS
The September 20th 2016 meeting of the Newton Amateur Radio Club met in the Board Room of the Newton Public Library. Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by President Jeanne Groves.

Present were Charles K0HNC, Jed KD0JCG, Jeanne KS0JG, Jerry KD0LWX, Dan K0FNI

Minutes and Treasurers report were read by Sec/Treasurer Charles Meisinger. Dan moved and Jerry seconded to approve both as read.

Discussed equipment insurance. McPherson Club may want insurance so Jeanne took an inventory of their equipment. The cost is about $1.05/1000. Jeanne will get an inventory of our equipment and decide then.

Field day sites for next year were discussed. Mcpherson Club mentioned the 4H building, the girl scout cabin and the boy scout cabin in McPherson. The Girl Scout cabin has lots of trees around it and the boy scout cabin is run down but has space for antennas. Jerry has been to Coronado Heights and said that the castle rework is done but the road isn’t paved yet. An in-town site is preferable because of public access. Charles mentioned that some town locations could be electrically noisy. We already have reservations at East Lake and Hillsboro scout house.

MCC Flatlander: Delayed start till 09:00 because of fog. Organizers were glad to get reports on the fog from SAG stops. Jerry said that a HV county deputy slowed traffic at SAG 2 at 12th and Haltead Rd.

Charles reported on the KS QSO party and the Route 66 on the air event. Band conditions for the KS QP on Saturday were not very good, but improved on Sunday. All 45 1x1 call signs were represented. Stations outside of KS try to spell Kansas, Sunflower and QSO Party using the last letter of each 1x1 call. N6MU in CA worked all 105 counties again.

The Route 66 On the Air is an annual event with stations at 21 locations along the original route from Chicago to Los Angeles. A certificate is available for working all 21 stations. 13 miles of the original route crossed the SE corner of Kansas. Charles and two other hams operated the Riverton, KS site using call W6M.

Dan worked the ARRL VHF/UHF QSO party. He said he worked some stations on 4 bands from 6M to 440 mhz.

Jeanne reserved the Water’s Edge restaurant for Dec 10th from 08:30 to 10:00 for the Christmas meeting. This date was chosen to not conflict with Skywarn Appreciation Day on Dec 3rd.

Heartland 100 is Oct 8th and 9th. Russell is working on staffing for the aid stations.

Falun bike ride is Oct 9th. Staffing not set yet.

Wichita area hamfest is Oct 1st from 08:00 to 13:00. $5.00 admission, VE testing, flea market and vendor tables. Colwich repeater talkin on 146.94.

Hillsboro repeater is currently delinked while Justin works on the link radio. Plan is to replace the repeater with a System Fusion repeater in a couple weeks. The new repeater will be a hub.

Discussed ordering license plate holders with our club name on it. There was little interest from either club.

Jerry moved and Dan seconded to adjourn.
