The September 15, 2014 meeting of the Newton Amateur Radio Club met in the Board Room of the Newton Public Library. Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by President Dave Hughes.
In attendance: Dave WX0DH, Jeanne KS0JG, Russell WX0RG, Jerry KD0LWX, Stan WD0EUF, Charles K0HNC, Marion K0GZX, Kent KB0RWI, Aaron N0QD, Joe KD0QNG, Greg KD0QNF, and Jed KD0JCG.
Russell moved and Charles seconded to approved minutes as published in the website.
Treasurer’s report Checking $1,375.04 Petty cash $36.00 Charles moved and Jerry seconded to approved the treasurer's report.
MCC Flatlanders Bike Ride is this Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014. We will be setting up signs and canopies. Commitments are Jerry, Charles, Stan, Dave, Joe, Greg, Russell, Jeanne, and Abby. Jed will be paired with Jerry. Weather may affect the ride, that will be determined Saturday morning. Russell will be at the site at 7AM. Signs will be at the MCC site, numbered and ready to go out. Additionally, there will be maps and reflective vests. Sag assignments are done.
Next Saturday will be the Marion County Preparedness Fair. Russell will have a ham radio and solar panel demonstration Anyone interested is invited.
Ultra Runners is October 11th and 12th, 2014. Charles is working on SAG assignments. Russell will work net control Saturday and will be spelled by Aaron. Start/finish line will be moved to the community center. No fifty mile event this year. We will try to have net control close to the community center. Most assignments are covered. CERT guys will bring trailer for an exercise. Getting bib numbers is the job of the aide station, you can query them for numbers. Keeping track of radio traffic specific to drop outs.
Falun Classic is October 12th, 2014. The ride is expanded, mountain bikers can go up Coronado Heights.
VE session is in transitioned. Will tentatively schedule October 25th for next session.

Stan - Oct 3rd, 4th and 5th, game preserve and mountain man event including reenactment and flint napping at the Maxwell Game Preserve. Will send flyer to Dave.

Kent - receiving QSO Party logs and working on them
Marion - working on antennas and cleaning them up, getting ready for winter. Marion has done 8 turns of rg8u on a 4” plastic coupling to prevent current on an antenna (from QST).
Jerry - Valley Center Hamfest--Saturday, October 4th at RiverWalk Church of Christ, 225 N. Waco, Wichita, Ks. Getting ready for MCC. 17 meters is going good and a good contact band.
Greg - discussed support for bike rides and runs for another club
Charles - working on operators for 100 mile run, finished his log for KS QSO party,
Jed - many work commitments
