Newton, KS

The May 17th 2016 meeting of the Newton Amateur Radio Club met in the Board Room of the Newton Public Library.  Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by President Jeanne Groves.

Present were Charles K0HNC,  Dave WX0DH,  Jerry KD0LWX,  Lee Buller  K0WA,  Joe KD0QNG,  Greg KD0QNF,  Dan K0FNI,  Jed KD0JCG,  Russell WX0RG and Jeanne KS0JG.

Minutes and treasurer were read by Charles Meisinger,  Sec/Treasurer.  Dan moved and Jerry seconded to approve the minutes as read.

Jerry reported on the Chisholm Trail bike ride.  60 riders started  but only 47 made it to the first rest stop.  The rest took shortcuts.  Richard  K0RCJ , in his capacity as OO, sent a letter commending us for a good job.  Bob Dittert was also commended for escorting 5 riders back to Newton on US50 using  amber lights on his car.

Lee Buller K0WA introduced himself and his operating preferences – 28Mhz and below and mostly CW.  Age 66 and a ham since age 14.  Been member and past president of Newton club several times.  He asked for everyone to introduce  themselves because he didn’t know most of us.

Field Day:

Jeanne notified ARRL of our FD site which they must approve.

Hutchinson club declined to join us.

Discussed rigs and antennas.  There will be a GOTA station using the repeater , a 6M station, a CW station, a SSB station, a 2M station and a digital station .  Antennas – Charles, OCF dipole, Dan,a fractal 10M quad, a fan dipole and several 40 ft pushup poles, Russell, the moss monster, Dave, a 40M dipole,Stan, NVIS.

Russell will see Justin about a mention on K-LINK NVIS.

Bob Dittert will bring several computers and networking software for logging using N3FJM logging program. Discussed using Ethernet or wireless network.

Russell will see about food for Saturday evening.

Setup will be Friday afternoon.
