The June 20th 2017 meeting of the Newton Amateur Radio Club met in the Board Room of the Newton Public Library. Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by President Jerry Williams.

Present were Charles K0HNC, Jeanne KS0JG, Jerry KD0LWX, Greg KD0QNF, Dan K0FNI, Dave WX0DH, Stan WD0EUF, Tony KS0TAD and Kent KE0NJP.

Minutes were read by Secretary/Treasurer Charles Meisinger. Dave moved and Stan seconded to approve the minutes as read.

Treasurer’s report was read by Secretary/Treasurer Charles Meisinger. Jeanne moved and Dave seconded to approve.

Guest Kent Price KE0NJP introduced himself. He has had his license about a month and moved here about 3 months ago. Members introduced themselves to him.

Plans for field day were discussed. Setup will be Friday afternoon. Bob and Amber will set up the network for logging. Dave had maps of the area for antenna location planning. Discussed what equipment each member will bring. Russell and Jeanne wil bring the food for the Sat evening meal. Stan needs time each members spends a field day to submit as ARES training time.

Hillsboro repeater is down due to lightening. Justin is working on it.

Stan reported that the Mobray Metric will use a new route this year that includes part the Falun route. APRS may be used to view locations of operators. Jerry said that the web site Bionics Electronics has information on APRS. APRS.fi and Windows 7 are not compatible. Use Google Chrome instead.

Dan said that former member Kent Harder had a heart attack. He had some bypasses and is at home recuperating.
