The June 17, 2014 meeting of the Newton Amateur Radio Club met in the Board Room of the Newton Public Library. Meeting was called to order at 7:05 PM by President Dave Hughes.

In attendance: Jeanne KS0JG, Dave WX0DH, Russell WX0RG, Stan WD0EUF, Jed KD0JCG, Jerry KD0LWX, Charles K0HNC, Joe KD0QNG, Greg KD0QNF, Bob W0BH, and Lorna K0WHY.

Jerry moved and Charles seconded to approved minutes as published in the website.

Treasurer’s report Checking $1,360.04 Petty cash $36.00 Russell moved and Jerry seconded to approved the treasurer's report.

Agenda:
Field Day on the 28th and 29th

Jeanne will do digital, Jerry 2 meter, Russell will bring the long wire antenna and try to throw a line across the pond with an air cannon. Stan will bring 6 meter rig and antenna.

Charles didn't see any changes in the rules this year.

N1MM will be used as logging software. 10. something

Russell will get key. Will meet about 5PM on Friday for set up. The contest starts at 13.00 on Saturday and runs thru 13.00 Sunday.

Jerry will bring the mesh net. Stan will bring a fox for a practice fox hunt on the 146.575 frequency. Dan and Jerry have antennas; Charles is working on one.

Charles has the signs, Jeanne will contact Kent about putting the directions on the website.

Pot luck..Russell and Jeanne will bring grill table for Saturday evening supper 6:00 PM. Other members will bring other stuff.

Mobray Metric will be handled by Jeremy or Russell

Wheat State Manor Bike ride --Sept. 9, 2014. will be decided later.

Testing session tentatively scheduled for July 19th, 2014.

Round Table:

Dave-Asked about a different call, Charles explained it was split frequency to get around pile ups.

Charles-does HF and 2 meter, weather for spotting. Contesting, state QSO parties. ARRL is having a Centennial party - this week is MN and Arkansas.

Joe-is planning on working for his general license. Hit repeater at Grand Canyon.

Jeanne- Saturday was weather balloon chase using the K-link repeater system. SuperLaunch is the website.

Jerry- has been working on and will bring mesh net for field day.

Jed – works with GIS.

Mark - pastor, 18 year background as a Marine. Wants to communicate with family.

Greg - got started due to Joe

Stan - emergency communicator for McPherson County.

Russell – members are dispersed, members of SkyWarn, NWS chat. Working with Marion County emergency manager to put a network of hams. Attended a emergency drill at fairgrounds with tower trailer. Folding tower extends to 100 feet up with shack and radios for all emergency bands with audio bridges.
