The June 15, 2010 meeting of the Newton Amateur Radio Club was held in the Board room of the Newton Public Library. In attendance were Jeanne Grove, Russll Groves, Bob Harder, Lorna Harder, Joe Palmer and Kent Stutzman.

The meeting was called to order at 1915 by Vice-President Joe Palmer. Secretary/Treasurer Kent Stutzman read the May minutes which were accepted as read.

Treasurers report: Deposit of $15, Checking balance of 554.64, with $30 in petty cash.

Old business: Chance Hayes joined Russell Groves and Michelel Abbot, EM of Marion County at an area meeting of public safety officials in Hillsboro. They were able to explain the addition of amateur radio and how amateurs can supplement emergency service communications. The feel they made an impact and were received well. K-Link is now considering a 440 Node in Hillsboro that would fill a large hole in coverage in the state, and as things move along, K-Link may also become a reality and cover Marion, Chase, and even up into Dickinson county.

As there has been so many offers for places to operate, and with a number of people not operating with the Club, it was decided that there were not enough people to have a Newton/Hesston ARC combined Field Day. Russell suggested that we join the Greater Wichita Field Day at the Spirit Boeing Employees Lake and Park. Information can be found in the Grounded Grid by going to http://warc1.org/grid

Kent is planning to mail out a note to people who may have or were members last year, offering a half year membership to those they had not been sent a notice that it was time to remove. Kent is still learning what needs to be done as secretary/treasurer.

Russell Groves reported he has taken the FEMA 100, 200, 700, 800 courses.

Bob Harder Reminded the group of the Kansas QSO Party on August 28 and 29, 2010. More details can be found at http://www.ksqsoparty.org.
