The June 19, 2004 meeting was held at Red Coach Restaurant in Newton. The meeting was called to order at 9:17am by President Kent Harder. Present were Ko Bartel, Fred Becker, Lon Buller, Dave Duerksen, Ron Farthing, David Godshall, Bob Harder, Kent Harder, Mike Harvey, Dan Inskeep, Ken Lundgren, Robin McDaniel, Bob Ogden, Kent Stutzman, Melanie Triantis, Roger Wilson.
Minutes: The May Minutes were read
with a couple corrections; the Hesston College Club callsign is K0HC
rather than N0HC, and the May list of people present missed two people: Ko
Bartel and Dave Duerksen.
Unique WAS Challenge: Bob Harder, W0BH, and Nelson Kilmer, N0LRA, successfully completed their two party Worked All States project in Hawaii, as far as anyone is aware the first time a WAS challenge was completed between the same two operators. Bob found Nelson on the frequency immediately and they completed their 50th state on their first try. When Nelson joined Bob in Hawaii a few days later, Bob presented him with several oversized QSL cards to comemorate the event. They proceeded to make contacts on three other bands, including a CW contact. Bob printed up a new set of 50 QSL cards for Nelson to submit for the award, and Bob will be submitting an article to be printed up in the QST. Bob passed around a full set of QSL cards as well as photos from Hawaii, and played a recording of one of their contacts. Bob also participated in a CW contests while in Hawaii.
Field Day: David will use club
funds to purchase some food: Hamburgers, Chicken, Brats, Hotdogs,
condiments, drinks, chips. Supper will be at 6pm. Radios: Bob can bring 3
radios, Michael will bring the GOTA station and a logging computer for it. David Godshall will bring two
logging computers and Dave Duerksen will bring another logging computer. Kent Stutzman did an interview
with The Newton Kansan and there should be an article in the Tuesday Kansan about Field Day. Field
Day results can be submitted online now: http://www.b4h.net/cabforms . David will print some signs and
arrows to help direct people to the right location.
Club Membership: David passed out membership lists and received some corrections.
RACES: David took digital photographs of various individuals to be sent to Kent Stutzman for use in making RACES membership cards.
Newsline: Did not run this week, there's a possibility Newsline is having financial trouble and Kent encouraged individuals to contribute funds as they see fit. We'll decide at the next meeting if the club should make a contribution on behalf of the club.
Meeting adjourned at 10:17am
