The June 16, 2001 meeting was held at Spear's Restaurant in Newton. The meeting was called to order at 9:16am by President Ron Farthing. Present were Lon Buller, Dave Duerksen, Ron Farthing, Xon Fesling, David Godshall, Bob Harder, Dan Inskeep, Roger Jost, Robin McDaniel, Kent Stutzman, Roger and Dr. J. J. Wilson.

The June minutes were read without corrections.

Treasurer's Report: No change to balance of $960.09.

Repeater: Lon needs to know roughly how much the club plans to spend on the new repeater and antenna so he can submit a request for approximately half from the county. Robin showed some information about a Yaesu repeater he thinks looks pretty good. Raised the question about whether we still want to get a new repeater, given than it is working very well following some additional work he and Kent did on it about a week ago (there is still a little static problem that Robin will look into). Robin said that Chance Cooper's recommendation is to forget a new repeater but do get a new commercial antenna. Robin agrees that a new repeater is not really needed right now. Discussion about the merits of keeping the current older GE Master Pro, which is a good repeater, versus buying a brand new repeater, with warranty, but with a large price tag. Roger moved that we request Lon to request 60% of the cost of a new commercial grade antenna, with the club to pick up the remaining 40%; Dan seconded. Passed unanimously after some discussion. Robin will select an appropriate antenna and give Lon the pricing information by Friday.

Field Day: Gave directions to the Stutzman Retreat Center, corner of Haltead and 48th. Bob will supply two stations with antennas, David Godshall will supply a Novice/Tech station. Others are welcome to bring equipment for testing, etc. People will need to make their own meal plans; there is a refrigerator and range. May have a grill Saturday evening. Setup will start 6pm Friday for anyone interested.

Repeater Battery: Have a bad battery, it boiled dry. Deep©Cycle marine battery. Treasurer will give Robin a check to purchase a new battery.
