The July 19th, 2016 meeting of the Newton Amateur Radio Club met in the Board Room of the Newton Public Library. Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by President Jeanne Groves.

Present were Charles K0HNC, Dave WX0DH, Jed KD0JCG, Russell WX0RG, Jeanne KS0JG, Jerry KD0LWX.

Minutes and Treasurers report were read by Sec/Treasures Charles Meisinger. Dave moved and Jerry seconded to approve both as read.

Discussion of field day for next year:
Russell will check on Harvey county East and the Hillsboro Scout House
Have a work day early in year for antenna interference problems
Digital station had most interference
Charles suggested feedlines could be radiating and may need choke baluns at antenna feedpoints.
Discussed having multiple grounding points.
Jerry learned from Jeremy that they had a second vertical antenna that had a bent mast.

Mobray Metric:
Went very well. Jeremy did a good job as net control. We had better agreement than usual on head counts. One rider had asthma problems at SAG 3. Jerry said that the organizers were very pleased with how fast we responded and got help.

Sept 17 – MCC Flatlander. Russell and Jeanne will get participants at next meeting.

Oct 8,9 – Heartland 100

Dec 3 - Skywarn appreciation day

Discussed how to get insurance for both clubs without paying $200 per club. Russell suggested calling ARRL for more information about insurance for combined clubs. Dave moved to have Jeanne see about the most cost effective way to get liability insurance for both clubs. Russell seconded. Goal is to have some results by MCC flatlander.

Charles passed around copies of Field Day results and suggested going as 4A next year instead of 3A by using the 4th radio on HF instead of GOTA.

Adjourned a 7:30. Russell moved and Dave seconded.
