Newton, KS

The July 17, 2012 meeting of the Newton Amateur Radio Club met in the building behind Marion Harper's house. Those in attendance were Russell Groves, Marion Harper, Dan Inskeep, Charles Meisinger, Stan Stephenson, Kent Stutzman, Gilman Vaine, and Jerry Williams. Guest was Terry Clover, N0OMO.

The meeting was called to order by president Russsell Groves at 7:05PM.

Kent read the minutes and they were accepted as read.

Charles went over the highlights of the Field Day scoresand has submitted the file online and sent the supporting details via surface mail

Russell focused on the number upcoming events.

  • July 22 - Mowbray Metric - Needs operators, one SAG needs covered -- 20, 40 and 62 mile routes. Contact Stan Stephenson, WDØEUF.
  • August 19 - Kansas State ARRL Convention
  • August 24-45 - Joplin Hamfest
  • August 25-26 - Kansas QSO Party
  • September 15 - MCC Flatlanders Bike Ride - 4, 35, 45, and 60 mile routes. Contact Russell Groves, WXØRG
  • October 13 - Kansas Ultraunners Heartland Cassoday
  • October 14 - Falun Classic - Contact Stan, WDØEUF.

Dan did a short presentation on full and half wave rectifier/inductors. Walwarts use higher frequencies and then through the transformer the frequencies are brought back down.

ARES and Red Cross have been active and in the news with the Colorado fires.

Kent gave the club financial report of $880.02 in checking and $25.68 in petty cash.
