Meeting was called to order at 9:25. In attendance were Mike Harvey (AB0TX), Kent Stutzman (KB0RWI), Dan Inskeep (K0FNI), Aaron Diller (N0QD), Don Smith (WB6ITK), Bob Ogden (NM7Z), Lon Buller (N0SNO), Catherine French (KE5CEJ), Randy Wing (N0LD), Sherry Weir (KB0SQQ), and her daughter Staci Weir.
Mike read the minutes from the June meeting and asked if there were any additions or corrections. None were heard and it was moved and seconded that the minutes be accepted. There was some discussion on the repeater experiencing interference. Mike commented how the repeater was working great and he had heard some of the interference on the repeater. He said he was working on building another small handheld directional antenna to snoop around with and track interference. He also made mention that the garage door ate his last one.
Lon (N0SNO), also mentioned the county had experienced the interference a lot worse than the club repeater had. He said K-COM had been down recently to work on finding where the problem was, but had not found anything promising.
There was discussion on Field Day 2007. Mike said the CW station had worked 1326 stations and the SSB station had made around 750. Although there was quite a bit of confusion on the final tally, it seems we may have bettered last years score. Aaron was there to give a brief report on how the 6 meter station did.
Randy (N0LD), gave a brief report on how the BEARS Field Day went. He said they were 7A and they didn’t do as good as our CW station did. He said participation at the event was good but CW was not a big scorer for them. Everyone who came out to Field Day 2007 had a great time and look forward to next year.
Sherry Weir (KB0SQQ), and Randy Wing (N0LD) came up from the National Weather Service in Wichita to give a presentation on the SKYWARN program. Dan (K0FNI), got a computer projector from the library for them to use. Sherry gave a great presentation on the SKYWARN program and talked about weather trends over the last decade in Kansas. She gave out some great hand outs and even some prizes to folks answering questions correctly. The biggest of the prizes was a rain gauge brought by Sherry. It was rather large and held quite a bit rain. Mike chose Catherine French (KE5CEJ) to receive the gauge since she is the clubs newest member. Congratulations Catherine! Catherine said she was new to the area and that she got her license in New Mexico. She currently works as an engineer at Agco in Hesston.
