The January 20, 2015 meeting of the Newton Amateur Radio Club met in the Board Room of the Newton Public Library. Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by President Dave Hughes.
In attendance: Dave WX0DH, Russell WX0RG, Jeanne KS0JG, Jed KD0JCG, Jerry KD0LWX, Marion K0GZX, Joe KD0QNG, Greg KD0QNF, and Charles K0HNC.
Charles moved and Jerry seconded to approved minutes as published in the website.
Treasurer’s report Checking $1,375.04. Petty cash $36.00 Joe moved and Jerry seconded to approved the treasurer’s report.
Officers were nominated as follows:
Dave Hughes WX0DH nominated for President by Jeanne KS0JG
Jerry Williams KD0LWX for Vice President by Russell WX0RG
Jeanne Groves KS0JG for Secretary Treasurer by Dave WX0DH
Slate was elected by acclamation.
Russell is contacting the Newton Elevator for space to put up a repeater.
Discussion on tower and club insurance policy. Jeanne will submit a form for insurance to ARRL insurance to find out costs and coverage information.
The repeater will have the ID of KB0SOF and frequency of 443.1
Upcoming events: March testing session. Harvey County spotter meeting March 12th. McPherson is March 16th. Feb 19th in Hillsboro. Session tentatively March 21st.
Dave -- don’t run your coax next to your cat5 for computer.
Greg -- kicking himself, needed ht’s to keep in touch
Joe -- will demo his toys for us. Did light transmitted sound.
Marion -- not much activity

Field day Marion Lake, Marion County Health Department and Emergency Management, invite Hutch and Salina.
Russell is assisting Emergency Management to set up non-profit for emergency services.
Jim Tuggle has resigned from state wide RACES coordinator.
