The January 2004 meeting was held at Red Coach Restaurant in Newton. The meeting was called to order at 9:15am by President Kent Harder. Present were Kent Harder, Ko Bartel, Dan Inskeep, Kent Stutzman, Roger Wilson, Bob Ogden, Bob Harder, Lon Buller, Lee Buller and Robin McDaniel. Ken Lundgren, KC0QBZ from Marion introduced himself as a new member of the club.

Club minutes and current Club balance were unavailable at the meeting,

May 1, 2 2004 Kansas Sampler Festival comes to Newton. Early forecasts estimate daily attendance in excess of 5,000. The Newton Club will be soliciting help from surropunding clubs to man required communications setup.

Marion Ford, K0YWT health continues to decline. The club agreed and has sent a card from the Club. Marion's equipment is for sale and interested people should contact his son, Bob. More information as apporpriate will be updated.

Noted that Red Coch Restauraunt management had changed in the week previuous to the meeting. Management was unaware of our plans and ws quick to set up for the Club's meeting in the main diningroom. Kent Stutzman will be setting up meeting information with new management.

Roger, KD0AY reported that there will be a need for 6 operators for a bike ride event planned along with the Chisholm Trail Festival. Unsure of set date of the Chisholm Trail Fest.

Kent H, N0XOS said that Rodney Price, Meteorologist at KSNW is slated to be present at the February meeting.

Lon, N0SNO and Kent S., KB0RWI announced the scheduled annual Storm Spotter presentation by the National Weather Service at the Chisholm Middle School Cafeteria. March 2, 2004 at 7:00pm.

Ko, N0ITP, inquired whether information about the spotter presentation was linked from the Club website. Kent S says that it is.

Kansas reported to the ARRL as a state solidly behind maintaining the morse code requirement for higher class license.

Kent S has strongly been encouraged to start an ARES Net for Harvey County. This as part of his taking the Level II ARECC certification. Lee, K0WA; stated that a 2m sideband net would be a good idea.
