The February 17, 2015 meeting of the Newton Amateur Radio Club met in the Board Room of the Newton Public Library. Meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM by President Dave Hughes.

In attendance: Dave WX0DH, Russell WX0RG, Jeanne KS0JG, Jed KD0JCG, Jerry KD0LWX, Charles K0HNC, Joe KD0QNG, Greg KD0QNF, Stan WD0EUF, and Kent KB0RWI.

Jerry moved and Charles seconded to approved minutes as published in the website.

Treasurer’s report Checking $1,310.04. Petty cash $36.00 John moved and Jerry seconded to approved the treasurer’s report.

VE session March 21st. (This is a conflict with the McPherson Club meeting, will see if March 28th works.)

Charles Graber asked for help on the Chisholm Trail Bike Event May 2, in Newton.  The website is  It is an 80 mile race which will start about 8 AM and end about noon.  Moved to have Jerry organize and run with event, Russell moved and Jeanne seconded. 
Russell is contacting the Newton Elevator for space to put up a repeater.
Discussion on tower and club insurance policy. 

Jeanne waiting on information for insurance from ARRL insurance to find out costs and coverage information.

Tech and General classes being held in Minneapolis. 

Round table

Kent -- antenna fell down and has kink in line.
Russell -- pick up antennas from RCJ, quarter wave ground plain 6 meter, and gp 9.  Got 706 to set up on 6 meter and 2 meter side band. 
Joe -- nothing
Jeanne -- working on getting radio in new car
Greg -- building a garage which will have man cave space. 
Jed -- got back on the net
Charles -- radio this week, New Hampshire QSO party, sparsely attended.  Found station in MN Goose Lake ice station, on frozen lake.
Jerry -- getting ready for retirement, messing around with grids.  Picking up a little traffic in the morning on HF go north and south, east-west isn’t so good,
Stan -- grid square, 6m 2m 440, probably due to transmission distances.  more chances to get different entities to work.  McPherson club meeting on Saturday.  Relighting basement in the quilting room. 
Dave -- reorganizing desk and tripped over audio cable, broke plug. 

Local Nets:
Net organized group out of Derby, 2 meter upper side band.  Frequency 144.125  Thursday at 8pm

Radio Shack in Derby will continue —plans to expand his line of components.

FCC no longer sends printed radio licenses, you can print from the website.
