The December 17, 2013 meeting of the Newton Amateur Radio Club met in the Board Room of the Newton Public Library. In attendance were Lon Buller, Jeanne Groves, Russell Groves, Bob Harder, David Hughes, Dan Inskeep, Charles Meisinger, Stan Stephenson, Kent Stutzman, Jerry Williams.

Meeting was called to order at 7:10PM by President Russell Groves.

Minutes were read. Jeanne made a motion, Lon 2nd, unanimously approved.

Marion County has a new Emergency Manager and Russell will be working with him to get ham radio in the mix in exercises there. The new EM is also a ham, with mountain fire operation experience; so he knows how hams can become vital to communcations.

Justin and Russell got the repeater in Hillsboro is back on the air. This allows for the Matfield Green repeater to rejoin the K-Link system.

Bob came in with information about the Kansas QSO Party. He presented Kent with a plaque for the years of being the webmaster. He shared some of the exciting stories and details from the QSO Party. He passed around the scores and several of the plaque sponsors had received nice letters or e-mails from their plaque winners.

Dave is wanting to build a mesh network. He had a Linksys 2.4GHz wireless router with extended range antennas. The model required for this to work will be WRT54G v4 or earlier. Jerry had done some looking around to find that version 5 is too new to work.

Dave made a motion that nominations cease, 2nd by Dan. Unanimous. It was decided that we we go ahead with the voting with the 11 members present.

Club financial report: Checking Account: 1310.04. Petty Cash: $40.00.

Dave made a motion, Dan 2nd, motion carried to adjourn at 8:20PM.
