The December 16, 2006 meeting was held in Suite 102 at the Chisholm Trail Outlet and Retail Mall (formerly named the Newton Factory Outlet Mall). The meeting was called to order at 9:05am by President Dan Inskeep. Present were Ko Bartel, Lee Buller, Lon Buller, Tom Dhooge, Aaron Diller, David Duerksen, Marc Friesen, David Godshall, Kent Harder, Mike Harvey, Dan Inskeep, Ken Lundgren, Bob Ogden, Kent Stutzman, and Roger Wilson.
Minutes: The November Minutes were accepted without corrections.
Treasurer's Added some dues ($60) and moved some petty cash ($120) into checking, leaving a total of $538.69 in checking and $45 in petty cash, totaling $583.69 in club funds.
EOC: Roger expressed a hope that someone will step in in his absence to work on the EOC setup, including the HF antenna that got blown over. Dan will try to get some people together to work on that.
Railroad Interference: Dan is still pushing them to fix it.
Club Equipment: We are compiling a list of club-owned equipment. David has not yet sent an E-Mail to club members to start getting this list compiled.
Camp Hawk: There is still a delay on getting power to the tower but hopefully the paperwork will be done soon so they can get it done.
Ham Radio: The new bandplan is now in effect. The FCC also announced yesterday that the morse code requirements have been dropped from all licenses.
Memberships: All memberships up for renewal as of the end of 2006.
Election: Roger moved that we accept the slate of officers by acclamation. There was no dissent. The new officers are Mike Harvey, President; Aaron Diller, Vice-President; David Godshall, Secretary/Treasurer.
Linking Repeaters: We've played with Echolink before and had some audio problems. Mike and Lee have been looking into IRLP (Internet ReLay Protocol), which has some more features and is more secure and reaches about 10,000 repeaters around the world. We could also link into nets around the country. We would need to purchase a board for a Linux machine and dedicate a radio to it, and set it up at someone's house who has broadband Internet. The link could be a 2m link, but Mike would like to use a 440 link to minimize tones and identifiers while linked. The cost for the board and the software is about $170. Currently Lee and Mike are currently planning on funding it themselves.
Roger's Move: 2420 SW Duncan Dr., Topeka, KS 66614. Telephone 785-272-2188. Same E-Mail addresses. The Secretary will E-Mail this information to the club members.
ARES: Kent brought to our attention a letter written by Kansas Section Coordinator Bob, K0BXF, encouraging participation if ARES.
Meeting adjourned at 9:55am.
-- David Godshall, Secretary/Treasurer
