The December 17, 2005 meeting was held at the Food Court at the Newton Factory Outlet Mall. The meeting was called to order at 9:16am by President Kent Harder. Present were Lon Buller, Marc Friesen, Sean Kelly, Marion Harper, Mike Harvey, David Godshall, Kent Harder, Dan Inskeep, Roger Jost, Bob Ogden, Kent Stutzman, and Roger Wilson.
Minutes: November Minutes were accepted without corrections.
Marion Ford Fund: Bob Ford requested that the funds in the Marion Ford fund be donated to the Newton Amateur Radio Club rather than disbursed to Marion's heirs, he said that Marion would have wanted it to go to the club. The club accepted the money and will come up with an appropriate gesture of appreciation to Bob. Kent Harder will write Bob Ford a Thank You letter.
Treasurer's Report: After paying $419.95 for the new repeater, we have a total of $1,021.28 in the checking account ($642.88 of it in the Marion Ford fund) and $35.00 in petty cash, for a total of $1,056.28 club funds.
Newton Festival of Lights: Roger reported the parade went well, no glitches he was aware of, and the festival committee was very pleased.
Repeater Report: The repeater came in about a month ago. Dan discovered that the controller had newer software than he was familiar with and has been having to learn the new software. He's been working on it and it should be about ready to use, and when it warms up we should be able to replace our current repeater with the new one.
Emergency Coordinator Report: Lon Buller met with Roger Wilson on Monday to evaluate the EOC radio equipment and put together a new equipment proposal, and Lon then got approval to purchase all the new equipment requested (3 dual-band HF radios, three dual-band antennas, digital interface, antenna tuner, coax, etc.). The new communication towers are scheduled to go up in the Spring. If our repeater moves to one of the new towers (formal approval is still pending), we'll need to procure about 250' of hard line feed and figure out who will get it up the tower. Mike Harvey may have a repeater case we could use if we need one.
Annual Election: Roger moved the nomination cease and the secretary be instructed to case a unanimous ballot for the slate of officers nominated at the past meeting. Bob Ogden seconded, and the motion passed unanimously. Dan Inskeep is the new President, Mike Harvey Vice-President, and David Godshall still Secretary/Treasurer.
ARES Cards: Kent Stutzman handed out blank membership cards for ARES members to sign and return so he can make new cards. He also handed out ARES Registration forms to get updated member information and lists of available equipment.
Unlicenced operators in Halstead: Dan Inskeep recently heard some unlicensed radio activity on our repeater's 146.61 output frequency that appeared to be from a couple operators in Halstead. They haven't been heard since.
Meeting adjourned at 10:19am.
-- David Godshall, Secretary/Treasurer
