The August 2013 meeting of the Newton Amateur Radio Club met in the Board Room of the Newton Public Library. In attendance were Greg Brazell, Joe Brazell, Lon Buller, Russell Groves, Marion Harper, David Hughes, Dan Inskeep, Charles Meisinger, Stan Stephenson, Kent Stutzman, Jerry Williams, Glen Windler

Meeting was called to order at 7:05PM by President Russell Groves.

Kent S read the minutes. Jerry made a motion. Dave 2nd. Minutes were accepted as read.

Glen, K5SOM introduced himself. He is interested in upgrading to Extra, and is presently a Technician. He has his GROL license and is aan avionics technician. Those in attendance stated how long they had been licensed and gave their name, call and interest.

Russell passed on the news from John Goerzen, KR0L that he is now engaged. Congratulations John and Laura!

There was discussion about things that people purchased at the Kansas ARRL Convention in Salina. Many compliments about the new location, and some discussion on the organization of and marking of rooms as to where and when meetings were held.

Kent mentioned available plaques that still needed sponsors. Corrections to the list given at the meeting as members of the Club showed interest in sponsoring. When that was straightened out, Bob sent them a thank you for the sponsorship. All Plaques were sponsored prior to the start of the QSO Party. I know that Bob has thanked each sponsor, and will do so again after the logs are scored.

September 21 is the MCC Bike ride. John looked up on the web when it was scheduled. The previous ride organizer has stepped down and the new organizer has not gotten up to speed of how previous years were handled.

October 12 is Kansas Ultrarunners in Cassoday. Russell was going to check with Aaron to see if they still wanted the Club to support with communications.

It was decided that the Club needs to invest in Emergency Vests that would be issued on a hand-out and per event basis. Lon made a motion, Greg 2nd that Dan Inskeep look for vests and spend up to $200 from Club funds. If the cost was more, Lon would see what he could do with EM budget funds.

Club funds: Checking Account: $869.04 Petty Cash: $31.00

David made a motion to adjourn, Jerry 2nd. Unanimous approval. Meeting adjourned at 8:09PM.
