The August 18, 2007 meeting was held in the Newton Public Library. The meeting was called to order at 9:15am by Secretary David Godshall. Present were Tom Dhooge, David Duerksen, David Godshall, Marion Harper, Mike Harvey, Dan Inskeep, Bob Ogden, and Kent Stutzman.
Minutes: The July Minutes were read and approved.
Repeater Backup Power: There was discussion about methods of providing battery backup power for our repeater. There might eventually be county-provided emergency backup power at the site, but in the meantime or in addition it would be good to have our own backup power. A powerful enough inverter is needed, and Dan said he might have one that would work. Also might need a new battery, or need to test our current battery. Will pull up to 35amp current, so should have about a 600watt inverter. Dan will also see if he has access to some batteries. Dan suggested that Mike continue to investigate backup and inverter options, and said he'll look into some options from his end.
Field Day: According to Kent, it looks like ARRL didn't receive our Field Day submission. David will look into it.
Hamfests: Tomorrow is the Salina Hamfest at the Bicentennial Center. Some other hamventions were discussed, including the ARRL Convention in Atlanta, and HamCom in Dallas.
Skywarn Website: Kent mentioned the new Skywarn website he was building is now operational. http://www.ict-skywarn.org. Kent also gave the site for the rain/hail/snow reporting site: cocorahs.org
