The August 16, 2003 meeting was held at the Red Coach Inn Restaurant in Newton. The meeting was called to order at 9:36am by President Kent Harder. Present were A. R. Rickenberg, Jeff Bitikofer, Ko Bartel, Kent Stutzman, Kent Harder, Bob Harder and Lon Buller.

July minutes were read with no corrections

Treasurers Report: There was no treasurers report available. Current balance in July showed a total balance of $722.41.

Discussion of Kent Harder's portable station highlighted the morning prior to the meeting start. Shortly after minutes were read, discussion resumed on the topic.

The KansasState Convention is currently taking place at the Bicentenial Center in Salina. Many in attendance expressed their interest in going. We hope for reports from those in attendance.

Current Bussiness: No action was taken on the purchase of the new battery and charger needed to replace the current ones in use.

Old Business: Kent Stutzman reported that Special Service Club requirements needed to qualify the club was continued efforts to keep amateur radio services such as elmering, technical classes and active community involvement by the Club.

Upcoming Events: Bob Harder brought a request from Bob Becker for the Clubs assistance for the MCC Flatlanders Bike Ride on September 27. The bike ride will have 6 mile, 10 mile, 15 mile and 65 mile events. Other upcoming events include the MS Bike Ride is also on September 27, so the club will be needed to assist if people are available. Kent Stutzman will be contacting all club members to seek partipant availability for these events.

Lon Buller mentioned that Kansas narrowly missed becoming part of the blackout of August 14. Quick response from a relay center in West Virginia stopped the ripple effect that could have darkened more of the US.

Kent S encouraged all in attendance to note the end of comments on Broadband over Power Line which is accepting input until September 12, 2003.
