Old Business

Eisenhower Marathon in Abilene April 14. Comms were run on Simplex. There was some difficulty for all communications to be heard, and some relaying occured. Someone set-up a crossband 440-146 in the mid point of the communications and that helped to smooth out communications. Overall it worked well and was a good test of simplex communications. There were four different races and a total of 642 participants. When asking hams whether we can direct traffic or supply commincations only during events, we have to defer to supplying communcations as we are not duly authorized to tell people whether they can travel a certain road or not.

The Scout Camporee was help on April 21 and the Newton Club set up communications examples that would be visually appealling. There did not seem to be a lot of other Clubs participating so the examples of communication were going to be limited if possible to APRS, PSK, whatever others could find. Jerry W created two glass displays that had amateur radio information that could be looked at and had plenty of information. Jerry was also taking a GP-3 and 18ft of mast to put outside the Technnical Building to draw attention.

Upcoming events to provide communications:

Mobray Metric
MCC Bike Ride in September

Kent mentioned a notice that Lon Buller sent regarding an upcoming RACES meeting. He read the content of the note from Lon to those in attendance and has e-mailed the Club mailing list for so that all members have received the information.

Upcoming the next two meetings will be plans for Field Day at Stutzman Retreat June 22-23.

Charles mentioned that Bob Harder was working the Georgia QSO Party with an acquaintance. As usual, Bob had the route down to the minute. They drove through 61 counties for a total of 919 miles.

Joe made a motion to adjourn, Greg 2nd. Unanimous approval. Meeting adjourned at 8:30PM.
