|The April 17, 2012 meeting of the Newton Amateur Radio Club met at the Marion Harper's in his garage at 7:00PM. Members present were Greg Brazell, Joe Brazell, John, Goerzen, Jeanne Groves, Russell Groves, Marion Harper, David Hughes, Dan Inskeep, Joe Palmer, Charles Meisinger, Stan Stephenson, Kent Stutzman and Jerry Williams.
The meeting was an informal get together to build a colinear antenna tuned to 146.61. Plans were used from Colinear Antenna by WB3AYW. Following the form ula given, we were able to find out with an antenna analyzer that the formula was tuning to 106MHz. It was decided after an evening of hands on experimenting and fun that we would meet in a few months again at Marion's to find out what Dan and Marion have found out needs to be added to the design to get the antenna to tune to 146.61.
Divide 2757 by 146.610 and multiple by the (polyethylene coax) velocity factor of 0.66.
Field Day: The McPherson Club has voted to return the favor and join the Newton Club at Stutzman's for Field Day. Bob may not be there so other college faculty would be on hand to oversee the retreat due to the private nature of the retreat and its purpose for Hesston College. We are still awaiting word from Bob on the availability of other college faculty to help us use the Retreat.Repeater: Dan has the book from MMC and is going to tone the repeater as soon as the ground dries enough to get to the building.
No formal meeting was held. Treasurer report at the time of meeting is $820.42 in the bank and $27 in petty cash after the Treasurer re-imbursed himself for 8.80 for postage for by-laws mail to all Club members, $1.02 for 50 bus envelopes, and $0.86 for legal pad for continued taking of minutes in December.
Activity adjourned as people left at different times.
